Remote and hybrid work are no longer “stopgap” arrangements—they’re how many Australian businesses operate every day. Identity-First Access

Strong authentication is your first safeguard. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) ensures that even if passwords are stolen, accounts remain protected. Conditional Access adds context—only granting access if the user’s device is compliant, location is expected, and sign-in behaviour matches the norm.

Well-tuned policies avoid unnecessary interruptions by applying extra verification only when the risk is higher, such as logins from an unfamiliar country or device.


Data-Aware Sharing

With Microsoft 365, you can apply sensitivity labels to documents so protection follows the file wherever it goes. A document labelled “Confidential” can be encrypted automatically, shared only with approved recipients, and blocked from being saved to personal drives.

This means staff can share files internally and externally with confidence—without relying on manual checks every time.


Right-Sized Restrictions

Security friction often happens when policies are too broad—blocking legitimate work along with risky behaviour. Instead, group resources by sensitivity and apply matching controls. For example, financial data may require MFA and device compliance checks, while internal newsletters can be accessible on any authenticated device.


Embedding Security in the Workflow

When security tools are easy to use—or even invisible—staff are more likely to follow them. Microsoft Teams can integrate with Information Protection labels, allowing documents to be shared in context without breaking the workflow. DLP (Data Loss Prevention) policies can alert users in real time when they attempt to share sensitive data inappropriately, guiding them to safer methods.
